말과 마부
옛날에(once 언젠가, 옛날에) 많은 시간을 자신이 맡고 있는(the horse of which he had charge) 말들의 털을 다듬고(clipping) 빗질(combing) 하는 데 보내지만, 매일 말들에게 먹일 귀리(oats)를 살 비용(allowance of oats)에서 약간씩(a portion of) 훔쳐서(steal-stole) 그의 이익을 위해(for his own profit) 파는 마부가 있었습니다.
말은 점점 더 컨디션이 나빠졌고, 마침내 마부에게 우는 소리를 했다(cried to the groom).
‘당신이 진짜 내가 매끈하고(sleek 매끈한, 날렵한) 건강해(well)보이는 것을 원한다면, 날 덜 빗겨주고 더 먹이세요.’
